TEXAS MUSIC FLOOD
Midnight River Choir
Midnight River Choir
The story of Midnight River Choir is proof that sometimes great bands just happen. One night, four strangers ended up on a late night float trip down the Guadalupe River. As they made their way down the river singing songs, the beautiful harmonies floated into the heads of sleeping campers. The next morning, the boys overheard a man telling a friend that he was "awakened by a midnight river choir." That was all it took. Eric Middleton (lead singer and guitarist), Justin Nelson (lead guitarist), Jeromy Yager (bassist), and Mitchell Pyeatt (drummer), realized the magic of their combined talents and began writing and performing together under that River-God given name.
The formation of Midnight River Choir was nothing short of a force of nature that now translates seamlessly during their live shows. This band needs no labels or comparisons. Their music speaks volumes about who and what they are. Their lives have been woven together by a strong thread of energy both on and off stage. That energy is raw and natural and soaked up from the earth through their bare feet. They believe that what you get is what you give and they give everything they have to their crowds. When that kind of energy lands back at the feet of the boys it is something of supreme intensity. And no one ever forgets it.
RUMOR TOWN
RUMOR TOWN
Rumor Town are not new to the music scene, but are coming
"Full Circle" -
When something "comes full circle," it completes a cycle, returns to its beginnings. In the early 80's, brothers Jay Eric Pfannstiel and Matt Aaron Pfannstiel along with fellow High School bandmates Bruce Schwarz, started a band called Blieders Creek.
Influenced by the Urban Cowboy era and $3 admissions to see George Strait and his Ace In The Hole Band, thought of trying out the music thing themselves, after all it looked pretty cool. Jump ahead on the Time line, drummer friend John Thiem is added to the lineup.
Opening shows for George Strait, Reba McEntire, Lee Greenwood, Conway Twitty, actually just about every star that came through Texas Dance Hall. The 90's brought personell changes but the band continues to play. Bruce leaves to pursue other projects and is replaced by Bill Whitbeck (later to become long term bassist for Robert Earl Keen).
John later leaves as well to pursue projects of his own. During the next jump in the time line the 4 core members still play together at misc. private events while The Blieders Creek Band steams ahead. Soon Jay releases solo album called You Heard It Here First. Opening shows and playing packed dance halls and blah blah blah, yada yada yada and here we are present day. Matt, Bruce and John form Retro Fx, a 70's, 80's and 90's Classic Rock Band. This is sounding good for 3 years running, now let's take it to the next level, Texas style. Have a group that can do it all. Play the best in Country Music, old, new and original, play the best in Classic Rock, put them all together and you have just entered Rumor Town. Jay had already dropped the Pfannstiel label and now Matt has followed, hence Jay Eric and Matthew Aaron. Frankly, not to many folk could pronounce much less spell Pfannstiel anyways. Jay and Matt have not left Blieders Creek, let's just say it's another group to make beautiful music together or so they say. So there ya have it. But how can you put all the events, accomplishments, friendship and music experience over 2 decades in a few paragraphs? , well........ya can't. You just need to see the magic first hand.
