The TENTH ANNUAL New Braunfels/Comal
Co. Crime Stoppers Fun Run is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 26,
2008 (rain date is Saturday, May 10th). Formally known as the Poker Run, this renamed popular
motorcycle rally is set with the last bike out of the New Braunfels Police
Dept. front parking lot (1488 S. Seguin St.) at 9:00AM that morning. Riders may begin registering at
8:00AM. Refreshments will be
provided. Four- wheelers are
welcome too!
This event is currently the
nonprofit organization’s main fundraising event to finance its administrative
needs. All Crime Stoppers tip
rewards paid out are funded by fees assessed persons found guilty of offenses
in the court system. These
fees are not largely available for running the program. Crime Stoppers is a community-based
program designed to assist law enforcement in solving criminal cases. Area news outlets run weekly “Crimes of
the Week” releases to spotlight selected cases.
Crime Stoppers will pay cash
reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of individuals
responsible for the commission of felony offenses. All calls are confidential and the caller will remain
anonymous. Crime Stoppers also
offers a “Quick Two Hundred” program, for tips which lead to the arrest of
persons with outstanding felony warrants.
The informant is given a code number, and never asked to give their
name.
This year’s estimate hopes
to see over 150 cycles at the rally.
The ride concludes at the River Road Ice House located off the ever so
popular River Road, just outside New Braunfels. Participants will be treated to a BBQ dinner with all the
trimmings. The price is $25 for
pre- registered riders, $30 the day of the run, and $5 for passengers. This includes the meal, tour pin, and
special door prize drawing.
The Crime Stoppers board has
some great prizes for our riders, donated by area businesses. Without the support of our great
community, this event would not be the continuing success that it is. For more
Fun Run information, call Crime Stoppers coordinator Tim Kolbe at (830)
608-8260 or Crime Stoppers President Teresa Simpson at 830-620-3411. Please complete the enclosed
pre-registration form and return by April 22, 2008. We hope all who rode
last year, will be able to do so again… and bring a friend for a great ride!
Sincerely,
2008 Invitation letter..doc
